Description

A delicious and easy chicken and dumpling casserole with a cheesy filling and crispy dumplings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz frozen dumplings
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the ground chicken until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Add the garlic, ginger, green onions, cabbage, and carrots, then cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, chicken broth, sesame oil, rice vinegar, black pepper, and cream cheese. Mix until the cream cheese melts into the sauce.
  5. In a small bowl, stir together the cornstarch and water, then pour it into the skillet and simmer for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Spread a little sauce mixture on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  7. Arrange a layer of frozen dumplings over the sauce, then spoon over some of the meat mixture and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  8. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and mozzarella on top.
  9. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes, then top with sesame seeds and serve warm.

Notes
