A delicious creamy potato gratin recipe layered with Gruyère cheese.
Ingredients

- 2 pounds potatoes
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 1/2 cups grated Gruyère cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and thinly slice the potatoes evenly using a mandoline or sharp knife.
- Warm the heavy cream in a saucepan with minced garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Simmer gently.
- Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
- Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until golden.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving for easier slicing and better flavor.
Notes
- Make sure to slice the potatoes thinly for even cooking.
- This dish can be prepared a day in advance and baked before serving.
