Description

Delicious and festive pinwheel cookies made with colorful dough and cocoa powder for a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • Red and green food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until combined.
  3. Roll each dough half into a rectangle of similar size. Place one on top of the other, gently pressing to adhere. Roll tightly into a log. Wrap in plastic and chill for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice chilled dough into ¼-inch thick rounds. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake 12–15 minutes until edges are set. Cool on a wire rack.

Notes

  • Make sure to chill the dough properly to achieve clean slices.
  • Optional: Add festive sprinkles on top of the cookies before baking.
