Description

A delicious chicken kofta served with a creamy garlic yogurt sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Kofta Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken with grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and all the spices: cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything together using your hands or a spoon until well incorporated. The mixture will be moist—this helps keep the kofta tender.
  2. Shape the Kofta: With slightly wet hands, take a small handful of the mixture and shape it into oval patties or small sausage-like logs. You should get around 10–12 pieces.
  3. Cook the Kofta: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the kofta patties in the pan, making sure not to overcrowd them. Cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Work in batches if needed.
  4. Make the Garlic Yogurt Sauce: While the kofta is cooking, whisk together Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Serve: Serve the chicken kofta hot, drizzled with the garlic yogurt sauce. Garnish with chopped parsley, and enjoy with warm pita, basmati rice, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • For best results, let the kofta mixture rest for 15 minutes before shaping.
  • Adjust the spices to taste for a milder or spicier kofta.
  • Can be served with a variety of sides, such as rice or salad.
